The annual UCT Maths Competition for high schools in the Western Cape will take place on 14 April and hundreds of cars and school buses are expected to converge on the UCT campus from early afternoon.

These will disgorge about 7 000 pupils from 130 schools all over the Western Cape, from Atlantis and Bredasdorp to Constantia and Durbanville - in fact, all the way down the alphabet to Zeekoevlei.

The budding mathematicians will write in 60 different lecture theatres and tutorial rooms across the campus. Some 200 maths teachers will help with registration and invigilation.

The learners will register between 18h00 and 19h15 and will write from 19h15 to 21h00. If you plan to be on campus during the evening of 14 April, please expect congestion, particularly when the thousands of excited young mathematicians pour onto University Avenue just after 21h00.
