UCT vice-chancellor Dr Max Price has praised staff members for organising a smooth, welcoming and friendly admission process early in the year.

At a function on 13 April, designed to thank all those who were involved, Price said that while there will always be hitches and complaints from students and parents, the admissions process is a phenomenal, extensive operation. The feedback he has received is full of praises for every aspect of the orientation programme, the admission policy and the assistance provided by staff and students assistants, he noted.

"They [parents] will always compare our process to that of other universities, and they say that there is no question that ours works smoothly, is welcoming and friendly. After the first week they knew that they had made the right decision to send their children to UCT, and that is all to your credit," he told staff members.

Guests included employees from the Supercare, Maintenance, Campus Protection Services, Disaster Management, Career Development, Student Affairs Department, Sport & Recreation, and Communication and Marketing Department.

A similar event will also be held for residences.
