Dr Max Price caps a student at the graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Science on Monday, 8 December. This was the first UCT graduation ceremony that Price presided over as vice-chancellor.

Though the Faculty of Science's total number of graduates, 559, is smaller than the bigger faculties such as Humanities and Commerce, they produced the largest number of PhDs: 25 in all. The faculty also awards 69 master's degrees over the week.
