Two UCT students, Mark Danoher and Saadiq Moolla, have been selected to join a South African team to participate in the International Olympiad in Informatics, to take place in Egypt in August.

The duo forms part of a four-strong team, which also includes Moolla's younger brother, Harron, and Schalk-Willem Krüger from Potchefstroom.

They all came through a rigorous four-stage selection process that started in April 2007 with 34 000 participants at the first round of the Standard Bank/CSSA Computer Olympiad.

Danoher brings some experience to the team as he takes part in the international competition for the second consecutive year.

"Last year we did not do well, but I expect us to do better this time around," he says.
