April joins prestigious diversity council

Professor Kurt April of UCT's Graduate School of Business has been appointed as one of the 10 members of a new diversity advisory council created by Novartis International.

Novartis is one of the top five global healthcare companies. Its head office is in Basel, Switzerland, and it is listed on the Swiss, New York and London stock exchanges. It employs about 99 000 people across the globe in a number of divisions, including pharmaceuticals, vaccines and diagnostics, and consumer health.

Novartis' new Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council comprises of 10 members drawn from different countries, ethnic backgrounds and walks of life who share a commitment for diversity and inclusion in business.

At UCT, April lectures and researches in the disciplines of leadership, diversity and inclusion, teaches organisational diversity for bottom-line effect in the sociology department, and is also the director of the Agents Lab in the computer science department.
