Receptionists trained in first aid

29 October 2007

Receptionists at UCT residences have successfully completed a first-aid course to be able to provide urgent assistance to students, staff and visitors.

It is a requirement for receptionists to do the five-day course, and sub-wardens also get some first aid training. Neliswa Majola, residence operations manager at Student Housing and Residence Life, said candidates who attended the course found it very helpful, not only at work, but also at their homes. “Since they have qualified they feel more confident and know what to do in cases of emergency,” says Majola.

All residences have a first-aid kit that is kept at reception and is easily accessible.
