Guardian back for second season

Guardian of the Flame, featuring Jazzart Dance Theatre and some of the country's most accomplished musicians and singers, returns to the Artscape stage this month after a sell-out season in 2005.

Guardian features Sibongile Khumalo, Tina Schouw, Neo Muyanga, Tandile Mandela, Heather Mac, Tshepo Mngoma, Savitri Naidoo and Stella Magaba in a showcase of music and dance.

Jazzart's artistic director, Alfred Hinkel, believes the combination of leading local musicians working together with Jazzart's dancers is the catalyst for artistic creativity.

"The inclusion of Tandile Mandela's 13-piece African orchestra, further extends the potential for creative links between traditional African music and musicians and contemporary jazz musicians and instruments."

It runs at the Artscape Opera House from November 29 to December 2. Bookings can be made through Computicket or Artscape's Dial-A-Seat. For more information visit www.jazzart.co.za.
