Praise for the new UCT website
I HAVE recently become aware of the criticisms aimed at the new UCT website, and I would like to comment, even though I am not very much in the know and am no expert on database-driven websites.

I have been involved extensively, through my work in the Multimedia Education Department at UCT, with research into the use of the web by tertiary insititutions, both in South Africa and internationally.

Having researched extensively into the old UCT website, and into other higher education-related sites, I am very pleased to see that the new UCT website has “caught up”, finally, with present standards, both local and international, in web design, and web usability. In short, I am very impressed with both the cleaner, more elegant design, and the integrated usability and manageability of the site.

I am constantly frustrated by the (in my opinion) apathetic and close-minded attitude that drives criticisms such as have been launched at the new site. So, thanks for a cool site!
