Suite footwork at The Baxter

THE UCT School of Dance presents its annual public performance at the Baxter Theatre on August 30 and 31.

Footsuite invites the audience to an exciting programme of a variety of dance styles, highlighting the versatility of the students and the diverse range offered by the UCT School of Dance. Dance styles ranging from classical ballet to contemporary dance, American jazz, Spanish and African dance will be showcased.

Also featured on the programme will be works by guest choreographers Adele Blank (founder and former director of the Freeflight Dance Company in Johannesburg) and Andrew Gilder. The sights and sounds of Africa will come to life with choreography by Maxwell Xolani Rani, the lecturer in African dance at the School.

Other lecturers contributing works will be Lindy Raizenberg and Mavis Becker.

Performances are at 20h00 on Friday, August 30, and 14h30 and 20h00 on Saturday, August 31. Tickets cost only R40 and bookings can be made at Computicket or the Baxter Theatre Centre.

Also, on Thursday, August 29, at 20h00 students will present the final examination pieces of the fourth-year choreography majors. Seating is unreserved and tickets will be available at the door for R15.
