Girding runners for Two Oceans

10 January 2003

Old Mutual and the Sports Science Institute of South Africa [SSISA] have put together a great new series of workshops to help runners prepare for the 2004 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon, presented by Nike.

The first two workshops are aimed specifically at helping novice runners make the transition from the half-marathon to the 56 km ultra marathon.

With the return to the "old" Chapman's Peak route the next, the theme for the SSISA workshops will be, "Chappies, here I come". The workshops will provide runners with all the necessary information on how to train and mentally prepare for running a longer distance, plus give loads of tips on nutrition and avoiding injuries.

The workshops will be held in Cape Town at the Sports Science Institute Auditorium in Boundary Road, Newlands. Each workshop will cost R15 per person and all proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity, the official charity of the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon.

The first workshop will take place on Monday, October 27, while the second is scheduled for Monday, November 24. Further sessions will be held in February and March 2004.

The workshops will start at 18h30 and run through to 21h00.

To book, call the Old Mutual Two Oceans Office on (021) 671-9407.
