After 10 years in office, Dr Price will be stepping down as VC of UCT on 30 June 2018.

The Chair of Council, Mr Sipho M Pityana, has the pleasure of inviting all UCT staff members to join him in bidding farewell to Vice-Chancellor Dr Max Price on 19 June from 13:00 to 15:00 in the Memorial Hall.

Dr Price will be stepping down from his position as leader of the University of Cape Town (UCT) on 30 June 2018, after 10 years in office.

Since taking over as Vice-Chancellor, UCT’s position as a globally competitive research university has been enhanced by the development of new institutional linkages and research collaborations across the world.

There has been a simultaneous drive to develop UCT’s African networks and partnerships as one way for the institution to realise its goal of being an ‘Afropolitan’ university.

While the university has become research-intensive, there has also been an increased drive to raise the commitment to teaching at UCT, recognised in amended ad hominem promotions criteria and both local and national award programmes.

And some 1 300 workers were insourced in the interests of better conditions of employment and a more integrated, cohesive and humane workplace.

Please RSVP to attend the staff farewell event…
