A student farewell for Dr Price

The Chair of Council, Mr Sipho M Pityana, has the pleasure of inviting all UCT students to join him in bidding farewell to Vice-Chancellor Dr Max Price on 21 May from 13:00 to 15:00 in the Memorial Hall.
After 10 years in office, Dr Price will be stepping down from his position as leader of the University of Cape Town (UCT) on 30 June 2018.
From the start of his tenure, the Vice-Chancellor has sought to redress inequalities within and beyond the institution, while embracing and promoting UCT’s African identity in the global higher education landscape.
Thanks to the revision of UCT’s admissions policies to improve student access, the bolstering of psychosocial support, and increasing support for students’ academic journeys, the past decade has seen an increase of over 26% in student numbers, with a 10% increase in undergraduates and a 66% increase in postgraduates.
Over the past 10 years, UCT has produced approximately 66 000 well-educated graduates who have gone on to play their own roles in transformation and nation-building and are making a difference in our country, across the continent and throughout the world.
