Over 360 students from the Faculty of Health Sciences were capped during the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Spring graduation. That number included several PhD graduates, with topics ranging from adaptation, optimisation, and application to the human foot arch. Other topics included an evaluation of paramedic-led rapid sequence intubation practices in South Africa; risks of acquisition and treatment outcomes of drug-resistant tuberculosis in a high HIV-prevalence setting; as well as a comprehensive evaluation and implementation study on strengthening surgical systems in Africa through global surgery and surgical education.
