Over two days in September, Faculty of Humanities graduands became University of Cape Town (UCT) graduates. In total, over 2 300 students walked across the stage in the Sarah Baartman Hall to rapturous applause. PhD scholars had researched history teachers’ experiences of teaching colonialism and apartheid in South African schools; the importance of digitising South Africa’s old paper-based indigenous language literatures and non-literary works; as well as cultural heritage and changing societies after natural disasters in eastern Zimbabwe, among the many other interesting topics.
