In remembrance: Vernon Ashley Bryant

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of our colleague, Mr Vernon Ashley Bryant (60), on Sunday, 19 April 2026.
Mr Bryant joined the University of Cape Town (UCT) in March 1985 as a cleaner and dedicated his life to UCT until his passing.
Mr Bryant will be remembered by his colleagues for his dedicated service to UCT Libraries. Colleagues and friends will remember him for his loyalty, generosity and deep commitment to the libraries. They will never forget the care and steadfast support he extended to those around him. His presence in the UCT Libraries community will be deeply missed.
The funeral took place at the Crematorium Chapel at the Maitland Cemetery on Saturday, 25 April 2026.
Mr Bryant is survived by his mother Josephine, brother Lynton, sister-in-law Jacqui, and extended family.
The university has reached out to offer support to the Bryant family, and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew our late colleague.
