Dear colleagues and students
In light of the level 8 weather warning issued by the South African Weather Service, the University of Cape Town (UCT) wishes to advise staff and students that university operations continue as usual at this stage.
Relevant departments are closely monitoring the situation and UCT will communicate promptly should conditions change or additional arrangements become necessary.
The safety and wellbeing of the UCT community remain a priority. Staff and students are encouraged to exercise caution, prioritise their personal safety and take the necessary precautions during this period of disruptive weather.
Please be advised that any specific updates regarding operational arrangements over this period will be shared via either course convenors (in consultation with relevant heads of departments) or line managers in the case of Professional, Administrative and Support Service (PASS) departments.
The UCT Shuttle is currently operating according to the timetable. Any changes to shuttle operations will be communicated through the university’s official communication platforms, including the website, social media channels (Facebook and X) and the UCT app.
Staff and students travelling to campus are urged to remain vigilant and to follow guidance issued by local authorities, particularly regarding travel conditions and flood-prone or low-lying areas.
Support remains available to members of the university community through the appropriate channels, including line managers and Human Resources for staff, and course convenors and Student Wellness Services for students.
For general queries or emergencies, please contact 021 650 2222.
UCT will continue to monitor developments and provide updates should the status change.
