Call for nominations: 2027 TB Davie Memorial Lecture

Dear colleagues and students

The University of Cape Town (UCT) Academic Freedom Committee (AFC) invites staff and students to submit nominations for the 2027 TB Davie Memorial Lecture speaker.

The TB Davie Memorial Lecture is an important event in UCT’s calendar and offers an opportunity to affirm and clarify the values of academic freedom in our contemporary context, and to stimulate debate.

• Access recordings of previous lectures.

Nominations should:

• not exceed three pages,
• include a brief curriculum vitae of the nominated speaker, and
• include a motivation for the nomination.

Submit a nomination by Friday, 15 May 2026.
