Reminder: National Research Foundation (NRF) evaluation and rating 2023: pre-call announcement
The 2023 NRF call for submission of applications for evaluation and rating is expected to open before the end of October 2022.
UCT regards the rating system as an important means of benchmarking and your participation in this process is crucial to ensuring our success as a transforming research-intensive institution. In preparation for this call, we are issuing this notice to all re-evaluants and prospective new applicants, to encourage applicants to start updating or
creating their research profiles on the NRF’s new online system.
Register or login at https://nrfconnect.nrf.ac.za and where applicable, click SYNC NOW to migrate your NRF Online Submission CV data to NRF Connect. This will enable you to create or update your CV.
The following presentation will be of great benefit to re-evaluants and new applicants.
Presentation by Professor Robert Morrell
In this workshop Prof Robert Morrell will describe how the rating system works, what its demands are and how one might go about engaging with the application process. Prof
Morrell has been NRF B-Rated for nearly 20 years and was heavily involved in the rating system as a convenor of the Education Specialist Rating committee, a rating assessor and a member of the Rating Appeals committee.

Upcoming electronic Researcher Administration (eRA) topical

Have you been directed to use the eRA system to submit an internal approval application but unsure of the application process and the different forms that exist? Have you used the system before and keen to learn more about the functionality that
exists? Have you been previously requested to update your researcher profile but unsure of what this entails?
If you have answered yes to any of the above, then consider joining the eRA topical sessions hosted by the Research Systems team in collaboration with the respective business areas.
During these sessions, we will demonstrate how to use eRA functionality when completing a specific process or activity. We will also use this time to address any questions or queries related to the topic at hand.
We have two sessions left for 2022. Please see the list of topics below with an iCalendar link to add the session to your calendar which will include a link to the session. Each session will be an hour long and will be recorded for your

In celebration of Open Access Week, Digital Library Services (DLS) will be hosting a bonus Digital Scholar Series webinar dedicated to open licences with a focus on the Creative Commons (CC) options. Choosing a licence can be a stumbling block to
publication, so we will attempt to demystify them for you.
Give yourself the right protection, while ensuring that your publication is reusable and contributes to Open Science. After this session you will be able to CC clearly!
You can register here.
