Noticeboard

On the Research Announcement noticeboard, we share news and items of interest from the UCT Research Office.

New NIH policy for data management and sharing

The new National Institutes for Health (NIH) policy for data management and sharing is due to take effect on 25 January 2023.

To support all NIH awardees at UCT in complying with the new policy, the teams at Digital Library Services (DLS) in the Library and the International Grants Hub (IGH) at the Research Office respectively are collaborating on updating the NIH template hosted on UCT’s data management planning tool, UCT DMP.

Research Data Services (RDS) at UCT is also continually monitoring and adapting the review workflow on ZivaHub 3 (UCT’s open repository for research data and other scholarly outputs) in relation to any relevant changes in funding frameworks.

For more information on how the new NIH policy on data management and sharing will impact UCT DMP and ZivaHub, click here.

Innovation Builder Fund: Call for Expressions of Interest
Deadline: 20 September 2022

UCT's Contracts & Innovation (RC&I) department invites funding applications for the Innovation Builder Fund.

The Innovation Builder Fund (IBF) was started in 2019, with a mandate to develop UCT research projects where initial proof of concept has been demonstrated. The intention of the fund is to support projects assessed to be commercially viable, where research outputs have either been protected, or have protectable intellectual property (IP).

Qualifying applicants should be current UCT members of staff and postgraduate students as well as existing UCT incubated projects or spin out companies where the university has the right to commercialise the intellectual property.
