Invitation: Ibali Indaba webinar
16 March 2022 from 13:00 to 14:00 (SAST)
As part of nurturing a growing community of Ibali users at UCT, Digital Library Services (DLS) runs a monthly webinar series called Ibali Iindaba. Launched in 2021, the Ibali platform is part of a drive to develop an open-access space where
digital collections can be created, curated, published and showcased.
For the session on 16 March 2022, DLS will talk to lecturer and doctoral candidate Nina Liebenberg about how she used Ibali to showcase her curatorial research for her doctoral thesis. The discussion will highlight how Ibali can be used as a
platform for teaching and learning.

Research capacity building
Below are events, workshops and webinars that offer capacity-building opportunities for the UCT research community.
Connect with other researchers on the WUN Hub
UCT is a member of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) which comprises 25 universities from six continents. WUN has established a database that enables researchers at WUN universities to find and connect with WUN colleagues and WUN-supported
research projects.
As a WUN researcher, you join the WUN Hub by creating a profile that illustrates your affiliation, research interests and participation in WUN research projects (if any). This profile enables WUN colleagues with related interests to identify and
connect with each other. As a registered user, you can search the hub to find information on members with particular research interests and active WUN research projects. You can also post and view calls for collaborators and funding
opportunities.
Find out how to create your profile on the WUN Hub here.
DLS video series to help postgrads manage research data
Of particular interest to researchers who are supervising students, UCT Libraries’ Digital Library Services (DLS) is developing a series of short videos to assist postgraduates with the completion of their MoU/PPA and the management of research
data.
The first video, titled ‘Data Management Plans: What, Why and Where to Start?’, covers data management plans as part of research data management and the research project life cycle. It gives a brief motivation on why to do them and how they fit
within the UCT research project process, as well as introducing UCT's online DMP creation tool, UCT DMP.
The video is available here.
The Research Announcement is produced by the Research Office, University of Cape Town.
