Professor Ambroise Wonkam: Enabling genetic medicine

Professor Ambroise Wonkam, professor of Medical Genetics, director of Genetic Medicine of African Populations (GeneMAP) and deputy dean of research in UCT’s Faculty of Health Sciences presented the Vice-Chancellor’s inaugural lecture titled “Enabling genetic medicine” on 13 March 2019.

Professor Wonkam discusses how clinical applications of DNA technology can provide immediate benefits for healthcare and explains how GeneMAP is enhancing the advancement of genetic and precision medicine in Africa through genetic research programmes that focus on African-specific conditions.
