The former Arts Block on University Avenue was formally renamed the AC Jordan Building to honour iconic African scholar AC Jordan, who joined UCT in 1946 as its first black scholar.

The renaming is part of the university’s far-reaching transformation process. The ceremony took place on 4 April 2018.
