Dear colleagues and students

It is with sadness that we inform you of the death of Mr Mhlomkhulu Sotyhantya (36), who passed away on Monday, 28 January 2019, after an illness.

Mr Sotyhantya worked at the university for seven years as a Campus Protection Services officer. He has been described as a quiet person who worked very well with his colleagues and is fondly remembered for the love he had for his family. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and worked with him.

Mr Sotyhantya is survived by his three children and younger sister.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, 9 February 2019, in Mendu, Eastern Cape.

We convey our deepest sympathy to Mr Sotyhantya’s family, friends, colleagues and everyone who knew him.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive

Bongani Mayosi

1967–2018

The University of Cape Town mourns the passing of Professor Bongani Mayosi, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, who left us on the morning of Friday, 27 July. While this is a very difficult time for both students and staff, particularly those in the Faculty of Health Sciences, it is also a time to reflect on and celebrate the incredible life of one of the university’s finest academics and researchers.
