Annual Bongani Mayosi Memorial Lecture
The University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), in partnership with the Bongani Mayosi Foundation, will host the next Bongani Mayosi Memorial Lecture on Friday, 23 January 2026. The lecture will be delivered by Dr Lehana Thabane, professor in the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact at McMaster University in Canada. He will speak on the theme “Fostering evidence-based humanity in the academy and beyond”.

Farewell to Dean of the Faculty of Law
It is with heartfelt gratitude that I write to bid farewell to Professor Danwood Mzikenge Chirwa, Dean of the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Faculty of Law, who will be vacating his position on 31 December 2025. Professor Chirwa was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Law on 1 January 2019, the year the faculty celebrated 160 years of shaping legal minds.

In remembrance: Mr Bonginkosi Mangali
We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Mr Bonginkosi Mangali (57), a campus protection officer at Burnage House. Mr Mangali passed away on Sunday, 7 December 2025, at Groote Schuur Hospital, following a short illness.
