PhD graduate Shandré Pillay wants to make a difference in TB research

Inspirational Faculty of Health Sciences student, Shandré Pillay, graduated with a PhD in Clinical Sciences and Immunology on Friday, 22 July during the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) first live and in person PhD graduation ceremony since the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

After being inspired by her late father to study in the field of science, Pillay has made it her mission to research infectious diseases, specifically tuberculosis and finding a way through her research to best treat the disease.
