A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between the University of Cape Town and the University of Massachusetts on Monday, 23 July.

This is the first MOU signed by UCT Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, who put her name to the documents alongside Professor Marty Meehan, the President of the University of Massachusetts.

The MOU signals the formalization of a very long relationship between the two universities, which will result in a number of interdisciplinary projects over the next five years.

The agreement has been many years in the making, with the strong support of the University of Massachusetts’ Professor Marcellette Williams, Vice President and Senior Executive Fellow for Global Strategy.
