Green Week in full flow

01 October 2009

It's been Green Week at UCT, an initiative of the student-run Green Campus Initiative to raise awareness on global warming among students and the wider campus community. The week kicked off with a Q&A session, Assessing the Gaps in Climate Change Knowledge, where panellists Prof Bruce Hewitson of the Climate System Analysis Group and holder of the UCT chair in climate change, Yvonne Hanson of the African Centre for Cities and Max Edkins of the Energy Research Centre fielded questions on a mixed bag of issues, from rising ocean levels and solar variation (changes in the amount of solar radiation emitted by the Sun) to sustainable development and why nations are so slow to cut back on greenhouse-gas emissions.
